International Trends and Services

The International Trends and Services program facet provides services and delivers transformational programs to support people of African ancestry globally sothat they may have a better quality of life. Programs are designed and developed to service educational, health, and cultural needs and to help people emerge from poverty. The primary objective of our international work is to enrich the lives of women and their families in communities worldwide.

The mission is to execute a measurable delivery model created to reach women and their families through long-term programs committed to economic empowerment, education for youth, health initiatives and public policy leadership in advocating for social justice. The programs are enhanced through partnership, mentorship and advocacy. It is imperative that programs are accessible to the chapter’s membership as well as those in the Diaspora.

Finding Love In All The Right Places: Service, Friendship, and Cheer in the Virgin Islands!

Lutheran Social Services of the Virgin Islands (LSSVI) is a multi-service non-profit organization headquartered in Frederiksted, St. Croix. It is the largest private child and family service agency in the U.S. Virgin Islands that offers programs for abused, abandoned and neglected children, pregnant women and families, low income seniors, and adults with disabilities. The Columbia (MD) Links provided service and cheer to this often forgotten community.

Through the International Trends and Services (ITS) Facet, the Columbia (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated developed the Partners in Progress service program with LSSVI.  In this partnership, the Columbia (MD) chapter provided fundraising for LSSVI programs, training for the staff, and service and friendship to the residents.

The ITS Facet traveled to St. Croix to work directly with the staff at Queen Louise Home to provide additional support.
